I use non-ethanol fuel most of the time and in MN that means premium - there is a provision in the law which allows non-ethanol fuel sales for small engines, boats, snowmobiles, collector cars and motorcycles - only a few gas stations carry the non-ethanol.
Burgman 400 SilverWing 600 Majesty 400 The T-Max 500 is not really in the picture as I haven't found any used ones at a decent price but I wouldn't mind hearing opinions about it regardless. The best deals (I think) I've found on the different bikes are: 08 Burgman 650 Executive, 9k, $4800 and possibly trade for my DRZ400s 05 Burgman 400, 8k, $2500 That along with some slightly cool air temps will result in lower mpg. JeffR is spot on regarding the speed, higher sustained speeds are not SilverWing mpg friendly. It really sucks down the fuel at interstate speeds and much more so when the air temps are cold. Honda recommends plug replacement at an 8,000 mile interval for the SilverWing.
In the same conditions, my BMW C 650 GT maxi-scooter gets 51.0 mpg (it is a 2019, which helps the mpg's). Fuelly shows 52.3 for the Silver Wing from 2010 so I'm below average on the Honda. It shows 47.3 for the BMW from 2020 above so I'm above average there. I ride both exactly the same.
